The Elder Scrolls Online: Summerset is a paid expansion that expands on the existing Elder Scrolls base game world. With a host of new content included, the game is targeted at both new and current players.
Immersive Fantasy World
This expansion to the popular online Elder Scrolls experience uses a setting not explored by an Elder Scrolls game since 1994. Major changes to the game include a brand new class and plenty of associated skills, abilities and equipment, as well as a complete overhaul of one of the game’s key crafting systems. Major new quest lines and heaps of lore have been brought in, whilst a tutorial system also benefits new players. Elsewhere, there aren’t too many negatives to speak of, other than the fairly pricey cost of the expansion. Additionally, the biggest drawback is the still-stale NPC animations that partially break immersion in an otherwise-vibrant fantasy world. It’s clear no improvements have been made to this area over the base game.
On the whole, this expansion adds more life to the game for players who have exhausted much of the base game’s content, whilst providing a starting point for newcomers, without overwhelming them.
